'Daniel Boone' Star Fess Parker Dies

Fess Parker, the enormously popular actor who launched a coonskin cap craze in 1954 when he starred as Davy Crockett in the first of five hour-long episodes for Walt Disney's Disneyland TV series, passed away at his home in California's Santa Ynez Valley on March 18, from age-related causes. He was 85 years old.

Disney To Close ImageMovers Digital

To further cut costs at its movie studio, The Walt Disney Co. said Friday that it will shut a San Francisco-area facility used to capture the performance of Jim Carrey for his digitally animated character, Scrooge, in "A Christmas Carol."

Sherman Brothers Get Window On Disneyland Main Street

They've written some of the most memorable songs in Disney theme park - and motion picture - history, and on March 11, 2010, the Academy Award-winning composers of the music from "It's a Small World" and The Enchanted Tiki Room, as well as "Mary Poppins," will receive the highest honor that the Disneyland Resort bestows. The Sherman brothers, Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, will receive a tribute window on Main Street, U.S.A.

Dates Announced for D23 Upcoming Events

It's a milestone year for the Disneyland Resort, and D23: The Official Community for Disney Fans is celebrating with the premiere of Destination D, a brand-new, two-day event exclusively for D23 Members, held at Disneyland September 24-25, 2010. D23 also announces that the next D23 Expo will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on August 19-21, 2011.

Disney Announces Coast to Coast Premier Passport

Disney has announced the 'Premier Passport', good for 'premium' one-year admission to the theme parks at both US resorts. It is available starting today at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts, and the price is $700.

WDW Monorail Trains To Feature 'Tron: Legacy' Art

"Tron: Legacy" is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that's unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17. Appearing as early as this month on the Epcot line, guests will see a light cycle from the Tron universe on the "highway in the sky."

"Alice in Wonderland" Opens Strongly At Box Office

"Alice in Wonderland" set a new record for a March release at the weekend box office in North America, earning an estimated $41 million on its opening day, distributor Walt Disney Co said on Saturday. Director Tim Burton's 3D collaboration with Johnny Depp opened across the United States and Canada on Friday, and is also playing in about 40 foreign countries.

Give A Day Promotion To End Soon?

With 600,000 people already completing or confirming their volunteer service by mid February, looks like Disney has now come close to it's 1 million people it had hoped to inspire to volunteer in 2010. In exchange, participants receive a 1 day Disney theme park ticket. Rumor has it that the Give A Day Get A Disney Day promotion will soon come to an end.

ABC-Cablevision In Payment Dispute

Cablevision's 3.1 million customers in New York could lose access to the Academy Awards on Sunday if ABC's parent company follows through on a threat to pull the plug at midnight Saturday in a dispute over payments. The Walt Disney Co. is seeking an additional $40 million a year in new fees, according to Cablevision Systems Corp. spokesman Charles Schueler. He said the company currently pays more than $200 million a year to Disney.

Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Is Here

Nearly twice as many runners as last year are rushing to bring out their inner princess this weekend at Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend presented by Lady Foot Locker at Walt Disney World Resort.More than 18,000 runners, including 13,000 for the half marathon, are registered for the three-day event aimed at women's health and wellness, making it one of the largest women-specific endurance events in the country.
