| Disney's Stake in Citadel Upped to 57%
Announced in February, the merger of 22 ABC Radio stations, The ABC Radio Networks with Citadel's portfolio of more than 200 radio stations, will create the third largest radio group in the U.S. Citadel has reduced the amount of cash to Disney by $300 million and raises Disney's stake in Citadel following the merger from 52 to 57 percent. The modified deal values the sale of ABC Radio at $2.5 billion, down from $2.7 billion.

| E! Channel Launched in Romania
The TV channel E!, the property of the US companies Comcast and Walt Disney, announced its entry on the Romanian TV market, at the 11th edition of the Cable Communication Convention. The main objective of the channel, which broadcasts programmes intended exclusively for the amusement world, is to present the life from Hollywood, focusing on celebrities from film and music. The channel whose main offices are in Hollywood will be entirely subtitled in Romanian, and will address the high income youth.

The Shops at Las Americas, San Diego's largest fashion outlet shopping center, celebrated the grand opening of a 6,655-square-foot Disney Store outlet last month. "The Disney Store Outlet will be the only one of its kind in San Diego County," The Shops at Las Americas General Manager Michael Liberatore said. The outlet store will offer merchandise with no irregulars or seconds.

| Euro Disney FY Underlying Net Loss Narrows
Heavily-indebted theme park operator Euro Disney , the operator of Disneyland Paris, said on Wednesday its full year loss narrowed on an underlying basis and was confident it could keep afloat in 2007. The company's reported net loss widened to 73.1 million euros ($93.28 million) from 43.7 million euros in fiscal 2005, when a debt restructuring produced an extraordinary gain. On a comparable basis, 2005's net loss was 92 million euros, it said.

Walt Disney Co. is nearing multiyear deals to continue to supply billions of dollars in content to the two largest U.S. cable operators, Comcast Corp. and Time Warner Inc., according to people involved in the talks. The negotiations have been going on for years and cover a wide range of issues, including the license fees Disney will charge for ESPN, the Disney Channel and its other networks.

A Swiss company that operates family amusement parks said Wednesday that it was making a hostile takeover bid for Euro Disney SCA, Europe's largest theme-park operator. Center-Tainment AG, registered in the Swiss canton of Zug, said in an e-mailed statement that it will try to acquire 50.01 percent of Euro Disney's stock through a share swap and gain control over the company's theme parks. It was unclear how Center-Tainment intended to overcome the legal hurdles that protect Euro Disney's management, which is currently delegated to a 100 percent-subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company.
The Disney D100 mobile phone includes Disney ringtones, changeable handset covers, automatic vibration ring during school hours and various restrictions on handset use. Developed for Disney by Dubai-based Broadlink Research, the D100 goes on sale today priced at Dh399. It will be available through distribution company Al Sayegh Brothers at stores including E4U.
After years of negotiations with The Walt Disney Co., Comcast got its wish list fulfilled just before Thanksgiving Day. In a wide-ranging carriage deal, the nation's largest cable operator finally acquired full ownership of E! Networks for $1.23 billion. Comcast also secured on-demand access to such hit ABC shows as Desperate Housewives and movies from Disney's film studios, such as Pirates of the Caribbean 2, for its customers.
Tokyo Disney Resort -- home to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea -- is going through a Minnie, er, mini-crisis. As the leader of the theme park gang, Tokyo Disney Resort has built up something of a dale in the corporate world, but now chips are being cut into those ties. Just recently, the resort lost a daisy chain of lucrative contracts with Nissan Motor Co., Takara-Tomy, Morinaga, Nihon Suisan, Nihon Hills and Colgate when agreements it had with these top firms all reached their end at the same time. Moreover, sponsors for two of Disneyland's most popular attractions -- Splash Mountain and the Western River Railroad -- still haven't been found.
"The movie is structured more like a film musical," says Thomas Schumacher, head of Disney Theatricals. "The music isn't always used to tell the story. We thought there would be a better way to explore the songs. Our intention was never to take the movie and put it on stage, but to take what people love about the movie and put it on stage."It's a mature, magical story. It's for everybody.

Disney's PhotoPass service, a big hit at the Walt Disney World resort, has now offically launched at the Disneyland Resort. Now Guests' magical Disneyland memories can be captured by a professional photographer and available to view and share online-without ever having to wait in line. Disneyland's system uses a Disney's PhotoPass card, just like the Walt Disney World system.
Holiday magic will deck the halls and add sparkle to the decks for guests who sail with Disney Cruise Line beginning this Thanksgiving and continuing through to the New Year. Both Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will spread an abundance of holiday cheer, from traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts to "snowflake" sightings and seasonal caroling. A special 10-Night Holiday Caribbean Cruise is planned for Disney Magic from Dec. 16 through Dec. 26. The Eastern/Southern Caribbean cruise will call at ports not typically on the Disney Magic cruise itinerary, including St. Lucia and Antigua.
"Too Small to See" explores the wonders of the emerging field of nanotechnology and lets the visitor enter this world from the perspective of life at the atomic scale." The exhibit is located in INNOVENTIONS East, one of two buildings in the pavilion at Epcot that house exhibits designed to help guests discover and understand science and technology. After its unveiling at INNOVENTIONS at Epcot, "Too Small to See" will be on display at science museums throughout the United States as part of the Sciencenter's traveling exhibition program.
Disney/ABC has unlocked the gates to SOAPnetic, its broadband video site for the SOAPnet cable channel, making the previously restricted site available to any broadband customers through Nov. 30. Since its launch in April, the "gated broadband" site has only been open to Verizon's high-speed customers. SOAPnetic offers clips of the soaps that SOAPNet runs - same-day episodes of daytime dramas - as well as full episodes of the channel's originals.
David Bishopand his crew worked from 2-7 a.m. Nov. 10 plugging hundreds of red poinsettias and cyclamen into the Frontierland gardens for the 8 a.m. opening of Disneyland's holiday season. "We had to wait until workers strung all the Christmas lights before we could do our job," said Bishop, 44, the lead gardener for Frontierland, Critter Country and Tom Sawyer Island. The "holiday magic" can't appear until the first day of the seasonal celebration, leaving one morning to replace fall foliage with red-and-green flora.
Ying & Yak, a sprawling Asian-themed concept featuring full- and limited-service dining, is the product of Golden Valley, Minn.-based Schussler Creative. It is scheduled to open in Disney World's Animal Kingdom in the summer of 2007. The complex will be comprised of a Table Service location and four individual Quick Service counters. The Ying & Yak is the first of two new Landry's operations to open at Walt Disney World, the second is a T-Rex Cafe franchise at Downtown Disney to open in 2008.
November 13, 2006 saw the kickoff of many of the Walt Disney World Resort holiday celebrations. Among the events already in progress is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom, The Osborne Family's Spectacle of Dancing Lights, at Disney MGM Studios, and "Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade"at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Other holiday celebrations will begin Thanksgiving weekend, once the turkey has had time to settle. The holiday season will sparkle through Christmas and Hanukkah and beyond -- some of the celebrations end on December 30, while others continue through January 7.
Walt Disney Imagineer Stephen Silvestri and his team have been researching 17th-century royal French life and trying to create mosaics and other artwork, accoutrements and furnishings, often by hand, to fit in. The suite will come with a "traditional" big, flat-screen, high-definition TV. But people won't notice it unless they look for it, just like the complimentary shampoos and lotions in the bathroom, bottled in what will look like old, French glassware. "You want the fantasy," Silvestri said. "All those things are there, but they're not immediately recognizable to your eye."
Walt Disney World's 2006 fourth-quarter attendance was up 5 percent and its hotel occupancy increased slightly over the same quarter in 2005. On the other hand, Disneyland's attendance was down 7 percent and its hotel occupancy fell slightly. Both saw increases in per-visitor spending. Disney's annual report said the success was due in part to the parks' 50th anniversary celebration, which ended in September; strong Disney Vacation Club sales; and higher per-person spending, which was in turn partly due to higher hotel rates and ticket prices.
Walt Disney was given the inaugural star on November 10, 2006 during a ceremony on the new Anaheim/Orange County Walk of Stars. The walk, along Harbor Boulevard near the entrance to Disneyland, is meant "to honor visionary leaders, entertainers and entrepreneurs who have made a positive impact," a statement released by the city said. Each star is a solid granite block that is approximately 36 inches wide and 36 inches long. 50 of the 150 stars are planned to be dedicated and placed into the sidewalk by the end of 2007.

Walt Disney Co., the world's second- largest media company, is creating a video-game studio to make titles exclusively for Nintendo Co., targeting audiences for its animated characters. The studio, called Fall Line, will be based in Salt Lake City and run by Scott Novis, who led the team that created the game based on the Pixar film "Cars". Novis's designers will build games for the Nintendo "Wii" console to be released this month and the "DS" and "Game Boy" handheld players.
Walt Disney Records is set to release "The Archive Collection" on iTunes. This release of 50 unique versions of Disney songs is aimed squarely at audio- and Disney-philes. Previously released archive albums will be part of the first wave of 10 restored digital albums that Walt Disney Records begins selling on iTunes this month. Some titles include albums by Mary Martin and Hayley Mills.
One week after its October 24th release, the soundtrack to the hit Disney Channel original series, Hannah Montana, debuts at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, scanning over 281,000 units for the week ending October 29 (according to Nielsen SoundScan). The impressive chart-topping debut makes the Hannah Montana Soundtrack the first-ever TV soundtrack to enter the Billboard Top 200 at #1. Additionally, the soundtrack earned the top position on both the Billboard Children's Chart and the Billboard Soundtrack Chart. The soundtrack shipped platinum (1,000,000 units) this week, with certification by the R.I.A.A. expected within 30 days.
The total number of visitors to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea topped 400 million on Wednesday, marking a milestone for the destination resort. The total combined attendance at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea during the first half of the current fiscal year (April 1 - September 30, 2006) was 12,044,000 people, an increase of 382,000 people, or 3.3%, over the same period last year.
The Walt Disney Company President and CEO Robert A. Iger yesterday presented to the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles a $5 million donation from The Walt Disney Company Foundation. The funds will go toward the construction of the new hospital building, slated to open in 2009, enabling the hospital to further provide the best care for seriously ill and injured children. The gift, presented to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles President and CEO Richard D. Cordova, is the largest donation ever made to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles by a corporate foundation.
